SONS OF THE NEON LIGHT

The story takes place in a futuristic city shrouded in neon light and biting cold, where a sudden explosion and the death of a pharmaceutical tycoon trigger the collapse of the city’s power structure. Corporate conglomerates, law enforcement agencies, and underground forces intertwine in the shadows, forming a complex and volatile web of conflict. As the investigation deepens, truth is gradually buried beneath layers of lies, and the boundary between trust and betrayal becomes increasingly indistinct. The characters are pushed to the limits of power, revenge, and moral choice, struggling to survive within a cold yet visually opulent urban landscape while searching for a possible way out.

Directed by Juno Mak, the film constructs a highly stylized world through distinctive visual language and cinematic sound design, where order and chaos coexist. It explores how power erodes human nature, as well as the isolation and obsession of individuals trapped within a collapsing system. The film stood out at the 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards, earning multiple major wins and nominations, becoming one of the most talked-about works of the year and further solidifying its auteur vision and ambitious narrative scale.
