Shu Qi’s directorial debut, set in late 1980s Taiwan. Centered on a young girl’s coming-of-age, the film traces her gradual awakening within a domestic environment marked by emotional repression and the lingering shadows of family trauma. Inspired by the director’s own childhood memories, the film weaves together fragments of lived experience—including living with an alcoholic father and the enduring imprint of domestic violence—into a delicate meditation on growth and trauma.
